Pros and cons of bids:
Ranson: Carpenter previously working with Triad, now a sole proprietor – built the canopy over the front entrance. Bid does not include removal of soft areas of the roof, or additional insulation (if needed) Hip roof will not match the rooflines on the school and the SVDP building.
Scott Watson: Recommended by East Troy Lumber. Does a lot of work locally. Revised numbers from previous bid to include larger window. Will sub out plaster work. Is familiar with the village and planning commission. Will use local labor & materials.
Ziebel: Main client is Embassy Builders. May not be available to start in August.
St. Peters will get building permit from the village (end of the week). Pat’s drawings will be sufficient as architectural drawings for the planning commission.
Pat produced a survey from the Walworth County website (circa May, 1958). A parishioner may have a survey from when the canopy was built.
St. Peter’s will purchase materials for the construction company. Pat also recommended elevating the existing skylight and putting crown molding around it.
Barb Manthey made a motion to accept Scott Watson Construction bid – not to exceed $25,000 to account for unexpected costs. Motion was seconded and passed.

Other Discussion Items:
Finance Committee:
• Prior year (2005 – present) budgets were available for review.
• Finance committee asked that one school committee member be present at the finance meetings which are held directly after school committee meetings on Monday evenings. John Fitzsimmons was the liaison between the two committees, but because of health insurance restraints, will be unable to return to his position at the school. A replacement is being sought and several applicants have been interviewed.
• Paul Nyffeler suggested establishing a reserve fund to draw from when budget cannot be met. This fund would eliminate the lead time required to withdraw and transfer funds at critical times.
• Discussion of the transition from Saint Vincent de Paul Society to the “Helping Hands of St. Peter’s”. This separation from the County and National SVDP organization will leave our group free to support charities such as, “Love, Inc.” in Burlington, & “Hands Together” for Haiti, which are not approved nationally. Fish fry will continue as will the regular day to day operations.

The school has switched from F.A.C.T.S for tuition management to Vanco. Vanco is the same company that hosts the parish electronic donation program. There are still a few bugs to work out. But as of 8/02/10:
(54) families have signed up on Vanco, including (12) for parish support, (28) school families, (1) CCD family, and several custom donations.
Fall Festival: Tricia received a call from Deb Dittmar regarding raffle tickets. Tricia is going to follow-up on getting someone to manage that part of the festival. We will further discuss the festival at the next meeting.

Next Meeting: Monday, August 23 @ 7:00 P.M. Prayer will be led by Toni M.

Meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer and adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
